Daily Annoucements
I post here daily about what we accomplished in class each day, including handouts and links available to students on my CANVAS site.
Honors Classes: We started by going over the final 5 vocabulary terms for this unit, noting significant connotation, usage, synonyms, and antonyms. Next, students participated in a formative assessment (pre-test) for our first Grammar unit. Then, we reviewed the reading in the Epic of Gilgamesh from last week by annotating (sticky notes in the text) steps on the Hero's Journey with textual evidence. By the end of class, students were able to begin reading the next section of the epic, "The Story of the Flood," which they should finish reading tonight using the online textbook. They should also be actively studying vocabulary in advance of Wednesday's quiz.
Academic Class: We started with final 5 vocabulary terms as well, noting definition, synonyms, and antonyms. Quiz for these 10 words will be on Wednesday. Next, students participated in a formative assessment (pre-test) for our first Grammar unit. Then, they completed creating their Hero's Journey "wheel" and began filling in their chosen steps and textual evidence from "The Death of Enkidu." Finally, we read "The Search for Everlasting Life," noting hero's journey steps as we read and participating in Think-Pair-Share questions during reading as well.
