I post here daily about what we accomplished in class each day, including handouts and links available to students on my CANVAS site.
Honors Classes: We started class with our new routine: Daily Grammar Warm Ups. I project sentences on the screen for students to copy and edit. These warm ups allow them to practice the skills and concepts we have studied this semseter and will continue to study. Today we completed sentences 1a&b and 2a&b. After the grammar review, students worked in their groups to complete as much of the following as possible: Write new journal entries for chapters 5-8 (drafts due in class tomorrow), read assigned chapter from Part II and annotate, and work on Google Slide group project for teaching the assigned chapter from Part II. We will have a similar workday in class tomorrow (Wed.) and presentations of chapters will begin on Thursday. Homework: Complete journal entries for chapters 5-8. Bring print out of entries to class tomorrow.
Academic Class: We also started class with Daily Grammar Warm up sentences. After those, we watched an interview with the author of Things Fall Apart to take notes on his claims and arguments for the novel. Next, we read chapter one, completing annotation notes as well as the study guide organizer for chapter 1. If we had time, I planned to finish class with our first five vocabulary words from the list for this novel. Homework: Finish reading/annotating Chapter 1 as needed.
