I post here daily about what we accomplished in class each day, including handouts and links available to students on my CANVAS site.
Welcome back from Spring Break!
After our beloved 10 minutes of independent reading, we started off with a 1-question quiz on Comma Rules. Students needed to know the mnemonic for recalling the seven comma rules and what rule each letter stands for. Then we began to practice applying the comma rules to sentences on a handout. Next, we discussed chapters 20-21 of Things Fall Apart (Part III) by studying the Yeats' poem "The Second Coming," which is the origin of the novel's title. At the end of class, students had some time to work on their blackout poem from Chapter 21, which allows us to review the conversation between Mr. Brown and Akunna about their respective religious beliefs.
Homework: Finish blackout poem assignment to turn in Tuesday.
Coming Up: Test on Things Fall Apart on Wednesday.
Quiz on Punctuation (Semicolons, Colons, Commas) and Capitalization on Friday.
