Daily Annoucements
I post here daily about what we accomplished in class each day, including handouts and links available to students on my CANVAS site.
Honors Classes: We reviewed the EOC practice "Hard Times" at the beginning of class and then completed the EOC tutorial online. Students also had time to read in their WWII novels. I introduced them to our final assessment, the Lit Letter for the WWII book. We will use most of our class time on Tuesday, 1/17 to write this letter; it is due by the end of the day Tuesday on Turnitin. The assignment comes from a writing competition sponsored by the Library of Congress. While their letters do not go directly to the competition, I do encourage them to submit a letter during the next submission window (December 2017).
Homework: Read/answer questions for "Landfills" EOC Practice passage. Read to the end of WWII book. Remember, students can access the NC Released Test for the English II EOC through the review document on my Canvas Announcements page. Academic Classes: All students completed the EOC online tutorial at the beginning of class. We reviewed transitions and quote introduction techniques, and then they used the remainder of class to complete their research paper writing assignment in Google Docs and submit it online to Turnitin.com. Homework: None, unless research writing is incomplete.
