Daily Annoucements
I post here daily about what we accomplished in class each day, including handouts and links available to students on my CANVAS site.
Honors Classes: We started with notes and examples for context clue sentences for vocabulary. Students copied notes and completed the examples with the correct vocabulary word, and then created their own context clue sentences using four additional vocabulary words, one for each type of context clue. Next, we reviewed our reading/homework of "The Story of the Flood" by creating a summary statement using the SWBS method. Then, students independently read "Noah and the Flood," noting plot events and writing a SWBS summary of that story. Students then worked with a partner to compare/contrast the two flood stories around four main points (see Powerpoint in Canvas). Finally, we began reviewing subject/verb agreement rules with a Shmoop video. I gave students a notes handout for Subject/Verb agreement (also available on Canvas in the Grammar Unit 1 module). We will continue with those notes tomorrow in class.
Homework: Vocabulary quiz tomorrow (definitions, synonyms, antonyms, and context clue sentences). Finish classwork (vocab. practice sentences, flood story notes). Academic Classes: We started with notes and examples for context clue sentences for vocabulary.
