I post here daily about what we accomplished in class each day, including handouts and links available to students on my CANVAS site.
We started class today with a review of my course policies and guidelines (syllabus), which you can find on the Documents page here on the Weebly site. Our review was conducted through the online polling website Poll Everywhere. In a preview of how our class could use personal devices under the new BYOD policy, students answered questions about the syllabus by submitting answers via their device. I am giving the students a classwork grade for this activity based on the class average of correct responses. Next, we moved into reading two articles: "6 Reading Habits" about close reading strategies and "Why Read Global Literature?" We will use the close reading strategies all semester, starting with the "Why Read?" article. In addition, we will use the "Why Read?" article in class tomorrow to learn a specific way to write a summary of an author's argument.
