Daily Annoucements
I post here daily about what we accomplished in class each day, including handouts and links available to students on my CANVAS site.
My workshop is taking place in the Blue Ridge Mountains! Here's my current view... Now, on to the mountain of work we did in class today: Students began the day with 10 minutes of reading time, and then started to read the ancient Greek tragedy, Oedipus Rex (I abbreviate the title OTK for Oedipus the King). They started with a collaborative group reading activity in the Prologue, and then moved on to reading the rest of the Prologue. When finished reading and using some guided reading questions to check for understanding, they were to review the Prologue for textual evidence to add to a Tracking Chart in the categories of Tragic Hero: a mighty figure, Motif: Oedipus as a captain, and Motif: Light/Dark. After that, they worked on vocabulary words 1-9 (except for decrepit) by looking up the definition of the word and recording the context sentence from the Prologue that contains the word but using a synonym in its place. Homework: Complete unfinished classwork (tracking evidence and vocabulary) by using online textbook.
