Daily Annoucements
I post here daily about what we accomplished in class each day, including handouts and links available to students on my CANVAS site.
We started class a bit differently today. Students had to complete a review activity on pronoun agreement before starting their independent reading time. Next, we reviewed Oedipus Part I, Scene 2 by analyzing the various rhetorical appeals (logos, ethos, pathos) involved in the argument between Oedipus and Teiresias. Students then used the textual evidence from that argument to complete a characterization activity to evaluate the change in Oedipus revealed through that argument. This characterization activity serves as prewriting for our next ACES paragraph assignment: How does Sophocles use the argument between Oedipus and Teiresias to develop Oedipus's characterization? Groups brainstormed 3-4 ways to answer that question in class. Finally, we reviewed vocabulary terms not covered in our vocabulary review on Friday to help everyone prepare for tomorrow's vocabulary quiz.
Homework: Study for vocabulary quiz, complete review activity if necessary, complete crossword puzzle to identify synonyms and antonyms (optional). I have also posted a quizlet on Canvas that students can use to study/review.
