I post here daily about what we accomplished in class each day, including handouts and links available to students on my CANVAS site.
Honors Classes: We started with the vocabulary quiz for Oedipus the King List 2. Next, students took notes (1st period) on sentence structure, focusing on independent and dependent clauses. Then, students worked in small groups to summarize one of the modern day tragic hero articles we read last night for homework. If time, we debated whether each figure was a tragic hero and if the nature of tragedy has changed since Aristotle defined it for the Greeks. Finally, we looked at our upcoming final assessment for the Tragedy and Fate unit and started preparing for the written portion.
Homework: Write a claim statement for each of your three seminar discussion questions.
Academic Class: We also started with the vocabulary quiz for Oedipus the King List 2. Next, we practiced writing compound sentences and discussed the three methods of punctuating those sentences correctly. We then read Scene IV in Oedipus, continuing to practice close reading strategies and answering comprehension questions.
Homework: Take the Scenes III and IV "quiz" on Canvas.
