I post here daily about what we accomplished in class each day, including handouts and links available to students on my CANVAS site.
Honors Classes: Students took a comprehension quiz today on Oedipus and Greek drama. After the quiz, they conferred with me to get approval for their seminar question claims and then used the time in class to find textual evidence for each claim and begin writing commentary for each example of textual evidence. Homework: Written preparation for the seminar is due by the beginning of class on Monday, both submitted to Turnitin.com and printed for class. No exceptions.
Academic Class: We started class with a summary of the final scene of Oedipus Rex and answered the reading comprehension questions. Next, we watched the final few minutes of the Oedipus overview video to take notes on the characteristics of a tragic hero. Next week, students will write literary analysis paragraphs proving that Oedipus meets one of the characteristics of the tragic hero. Finally, students used laptops to finish revisions to their hero nomination letters and to complete a self-evaluation using the rubric. Homework: Complete hero letter revisions if necessary.
