I post here daily about what we accomplished in class each day, including handouts and links available to students on my CANVAS site.
Honors Classes: We started class with two warm up sentences. Instead of copying and correcting the sentences, however, we used the sentences as models/inspirations to create two additional sentences. Next, students worked in groups to discuss three questions about Things Fall Apart that got to author's purpose and characterization. We have three more sentences to discuss tomorrow. Towards the end of class, we started a mandala project to express what we've learned about the complex characterization of Okonkwo. Students had to complete the prewriting exercise through discussion and writing of six sentences. Homework: Finish blackout poem to turn in tomorrow. Study for Grammar Unit 3 quiz. **Reminder, everyone needs to bring Night books with them to class starting Monday!**
Academic Classes: We started class with our vocabulary quiz from List 1 of Things Fall Apart. After the quiz, students had 30 minutes to read and complete written notes on Chapter 13 of the text. For the end of class, we reviewed four sentences to practice skills that will be assessed on the grammar quiz tomorrow. Homework: Part I Notes organizer for Things Fall Apart due tomorrow. Study for grammar quiz.
