I post here daily about what we accomplished in class each day, including handouts and links available to students on my CANVAS site.
After 10 minutes of independent reading, we began our new Grammar Unit on Punctuation with a review of rules governing the use of semicolons and colons. Afterwards, I went over the Part II Teach a Chapter assignment with students and showed them some examples of former students' work. They then worked with their chapter group for the rest of class on their presentation. We will work on presentations tomorrow in class also, and presentations will begin on Thursday, 4/6.
Homework: Final revisions on Part I HOTS Journals due on Turnitin.com by 7:25 am Wednesday with a print copy also due (along with the rubric) in class on Wednesday. This is a major assessment grade for this unit.
Coming up: Presentations due in class on Thursday, 4/6. We will continue presentations on Friday, 4/7 as needed. Students who will not be in attendance Thursday or Friday MUST complete work and assist group with presentation by either recording their commentary or scripting their commentary and including it in the Google slides document.
Also, students are expected to read all of Part III in Things Fall Apart before returning from Spring Break. They can easily complete that reading this week ahead of the break as well: pages 171-209 in the recommended edition of the book. These final chapters comprise just 18% of the entire book, so the reading is short and quick.
