I post here daily about what we accomplished in class each day, including handouts and links available to students on my CANVAS site.
Honors Classes: Today we started by reviewing the TFA Final Questions that all students must answer in writing for their final test grade of this unit. The questions will be answered in a similar Double Entry Journal format that we used in Part I. We reviewed three of the questions last week and the other three today, including one based on developing a theme in common with the Backward Brain Bicycle video. After that, groups worked on their mandala project for Okonkwo's characterization. The mandalas are due on Thursday, but today was the last class day that we will use to work on it. Students may come to Smart Lunch today and Thursday to work as well as work on the project at home. Homework: Work on TFA final questions (download the template from Canvas) and read chapter 1 of Night. Look at the reading questions for Night before reading, and use those questions to guide your annotation.
Academic Classes: We started class with new vocabulary for the rest of Things Fall Apart. After our vocabulary introduction, students worked on their Teach a Chapter assignment for Part II. Each group is to read one chapter and create a Google Slide presentation to teach the main ideas of the chapter to the rest of the class. We will work on the presentation in class today and tomorrow, with presentations beginning on Wednesday. Homework: Read assigned chapter and work on slide(s).
