I post here daily about what we accomplished in class each day, including handouts and links available to students on my CANVAS site.
Honors Classes: 1st period started off by completing the unfinished analysis of the poem "Shema" that we started in class yesterday. 3rd Period began with a Sentence Variety challenge and started the sentence variety homework assignment. Then, students had time to work on completing the Night (1-5) quiz as well. The remainder of class time was for working on research tasks: reading articles, annotating articles, creating note cards on Google Slides from the annotation. Homework: Night Chapter 6-9 Notes due on Canvas tonight. Google slide note cards due on Mon., 12/5. Sentence variety homework due on Monday, 12/5 as well. Reminder: Study Island EOC prep activities are due by 12/21. Students must earn 100 points by completing assignments in Study Island (10 points each).
Academic Class: We started class with notes on Sentence Variety and a practice exercise of writing the same sentence multiple ways. Next, we talked about research process requirements (ie, No Googling!!). Then, we discussed and selected a passage to use for the first entry (characterization) in the double journal requirement for Night. Students then worked on reading the second half of chapter 1 and completing the 2nd journal entry for chapter 1: Reaction.
