I post here daily about what we accomplished in class each day, including handouts and links available to students on my CANVAS site.
Honors Classes: We started by reviewing the guidelines for formatting writing under MLA rules (Modern Language Association). Students can access these guidelines on Canvas in the Research Project module. Then, students completed guided notes on the process for including parenthetical citations in research writing. Those notes are also posted in Canvas. Next, we continued working with revising for sentence variety by looking at revision choices from the homework (given out last Thursday) to revise an informational paragraph and then by choosing and revising a response from the Things Fall Apart Final Questions assignment (graded and returned last week on Tuesday). Students will finish that revision for homework and turn it in along with the TFA journal tomorrow. Finally, students had 15-20 minutes to work on the motif project in their groups. Homework: Revise ONE journal response for sentence variety. Locate and take notes from either a second source on trickster or one trickster tale.
Academic Class: We worked on Day 2 for the research project today. Students received the notes worksheet for Day 2 (article from database) IF/WHEN they have finished the Day 1 worksheet. We used classroom laptops to conduct research today because the Media Center was being used for CTE testing. After the allotted time for research, we discussed and composed journal entries for Chapter 3 of Night. At the end of class, students began reading Chapter 4 and will continue reading that chapter for homework. Homework: Read assigned pages in Chapter 4 and finish Day 2 research notes sheet if necessary.
