I post here daily about what we accomplished in class each day, including handouts and links available to students on my CANVAS site.
Honors Classes: We started with two additional spiral sentences to review grammar issues to pay attention to when writing the research paper, including commar rules, capitalization, and title punctuation. Next, students worked in pairs to peer edit their first body paragraph of the research paper. They evaluated conjunction/comma use and citation format. Finally, we watched Part I (my designation) of Life is Beautiful and took notes on Guido's trickster characteristics and the purposes of his tricks.
Homework: Write body paragraph 2 using the graphic organizer. Bring a printed copy of the paragraph and the outline/organizer to class tomorrow.
Academic Classes: We started class by studying synonyms and antonyms for the words on our vocabulary list by completing a crossword puzzle using only synonyms and antonyms as clues. Next, students spent 20-25 minutes reading Chapter 6 in Night and creating two journal entries for this chapter (pp. 91-102). Finally, we worked on creating a thesis statement and topic sentences for each body paragraph of the research paper. Homework: Finish chapter 6 and journal entries.
