I post here daily about what we accomplished in class each day, including handouts and links available to students on my CANVAS site.
Honors Classes: We started off with the research skills quiz on Canvas. As students finished, they read and answered questions to a practice EOC passage. We talked about the EOC in general and compared the questions to the terms on our review sheet to get an idea about which terms are frequently used on the exam. We will continue to practice with past-EOC/Case 21 passages in class until the exam. Next, students read and summarized the first short story for our short story unit. I save this unit until the end of the semester because it fits nicely with the shorter passages we are reading/analyizing for exam practice. Students have a unit guide for all the short stories we will read, and they should have summarized the story in the SWBS column of the graphic organizer by the end of class today.
Homework: Continue reading in 2nd third of the WWII book; write at least one reader response journal and record at least two vocabulary words. Review the discussion topics and begin marking passages to support the discussion. All work for Part II of the book is due on Jan. 11 (regardless of the weather).
Academic Classes: We did some catch up today from the past two days in class -- reviewing EOC practice passages and the "Two Friends" short story from Wed. and Thurs. I assigned each student a writing partner, and they split the rest of the class time using a laptop and working on the writing of a body paragraph for the research paper.
Homework: None, unless a student needs to catch up on research work.
