Daily Annoucements
I post here daily about what we accomplished in class each day, including handouts and links available to students on my CANVAS site.
English II Honors
Today was still partly introductory -- I spent time having students talk to and introduce one another as we did yesterday. I'm enjoying learning about the diversity in my classes this semester: so many students from so many places around our country and world. I'm also keeping track of books/movies/stories that they enjoy. It's wonderful to discover so many passionate readers in our midst! All classes read an essay today entitled, "Why Read World Literature?" This essay is a great introduction to the English II curriculum and its rationale, and it allows us to discuss the difference between reading literature and reading popular fiction. We also use this essay as material to begin learning a particular writing structure that English II students need to master, the ACES response. Some classes were able to begin drafting an example ACES response to the essay in class today; all classes will complete this activity tomorrow. Homework: Return syllabus acknowledgement form by Friday, 1/27. Enroll in Turnitin.com using class code and password (see syllabus or Canvas announcement).
