Semester 2, Day 6
After 10 minutes of independent reading, everyone participated in a vocabulary review game using Quizlet Live. We followed the game up with a vocabulary crossword puzzle, which also helped them test their readiness for the quiz and practice the spelling for each word. We will have our first vocabulary quiz tomorrow; students will need to provide the word based on a definition or synonym (spelling counts) and then complete sentences using those same words.
Next, student groups worked together to research and create notes on symbolic archetypes that appear in The Epic of Gilgamesh. They worked together on a shared Google Document to record meanings associated with each symbol, find examples in the portions of the epic we've read, and think of additional examples from other, commonly known stories.
Those who had time remaining started reading the final section of the epic, "The Return."
Homework: Read "The Return" (pp 32-33) and prepare for the vocabulary quiz.
