I post here daily about what we accomplished in class each day, including handouts and links available to students on my CANVAS site.
We started with 10 minutes of free reading, and then moved quickly into analyzing a sample hero nomination letter to learn about structure of an essay, how to incorporate multiple sources of information, and best writing practices. We also looked briefly at possible authentic audiences and purposes for the letter. Students must outline the two body paragraphs for homework, using the outline provided in class. At the end of class, we watched a video that provides a summary of the story of Oedipus Rex as well as defining characteristics of a tragic hero. We will continue with those ideas tomorrow.
Homework: Outline body paragraphs 1 and 2 (marked as sections II and III on outline) for tomorrow.
