I post here daily about what we accomplished in class each day, including handouts and links available to students on my CANVAS site.
Honors Classes: We started with a comma practice exercise -- 21 sentences that allowed students to apply the IF I SCAN comma rules. Our quiz on Grammar Unit 3 is on Thursday this week. (In Period 1, we then had students complete their presentations from Friday on chapters from Part II of Things Fall Apart.) Then, Period 1 students had the option to either read/annotate chapters 20-22 in Part III of Things Fall Apart OR complete an EOC review activity on Study Island. Period 3 students were able to complete one EOC review activity AND read/annotate in chapters 20-22. Homework: Finish reading/annotating chapters 20-22.
Academic Classes: We also started with the comma practice exercise; Period 4 also has a Grammar quiz on Thursday. Next, students worked on 5 vocabulary sentence paraphrases (cont. from Friday's class). After vocabulary practice (quiz on Wednesday), they worked in their groups to complete the comparison chart for "How to Write About Africa" verses Achebe's description of culture and characters in Things Fall APART. Homework: Read Chapter 9, complete notes on graphic organizer (2 sentences).
