I post here daily about what we accomplished in class each day, including handouts and links available to students on my CANVAS site.
Honors classes: At the beginning of class, all students worked on a paraphrasing activity, using Aristotle's characteristics of a tragic hero. We worked on paraphrasing at a 1:1 ratio (one sentence for each sentence of the original) and using our own vocabulary to express similar ideas as Aristotle's. Groups then focused on activity A for Day 3 -- a dress rehearsal of sorts, running through their lines with appropriate tone, pacing, and movement. We also previewed activity B so that students will come prepared to class tomorrow with their selected lines for the literary seismograph assignment. Homework: Complete preparations for group presentations (set design, costumes/props) starting next week.
Academic class: At the beginning of class, students worked together to answer study questions from yesterday's reading selection. They then answered comprehension questions independently on Canvas using laptops or devices. Next, we read together Scene 1 from the play, with every student responsible for one close reading activity during reading. Homework: None.
