I post here daily about what we accomplished in class each day, including handouts and links available to students on my CANVAS site.
Honors Classes: We focused on completing our notes on Things Fall Apart in terms of what students need to continue annotating the text in all five areas of analysis. Students were assigned to new groups for the study of this novel and worked in those groups on comprehensive notes for chapters read in Part I so far. We will have 1-2 more days of reading in Part I and creating those notes before groups begin to work on creating high level questions for each chapter.
Academic Class: We began class by revisiting the articles we read on Friday about modern tragic heroes. I placed students in small groups with others who read the same article and asked them to create a summary of the article to share with the class. Summaries had to be written in one of five creative methods. These articles allowed us to review the five characteristics of a tragic hero and apply those to current, well-know sports figures not in any way related to Greek tragedy. Our next objective in class today was to focus on revision of body paragraphs for transition and quote introduction. Groups who were ready to move on also started creating the introduction and conclusion paragraphs as well.
