I post here daily about what we accomplished in class each day, including handouts and links available to students on my CANVAS site.
Honors Classes: Today was a big day! Students turned in their Double Entry Journals for Part I of Things Fall Apart today (also submitted to Turnitin.com before class). Then, we moved to the Media Center so students could present their Part II chapter notes to the class. No Homework for this weekend!
Academic Class: We started class with comma rule practice exercises. Next, students wrote sentences with our vocabulary words paraphrased from the original context in the novel. I checked on their Chapter 7 homework while they worked on vocabulary, and then we read and summarized a satirical essay entitled "How to Write About Africa." Groups then had to provide examples of how Achebe's novel contradicts those stereotypes from the three chapters we have read so far.
