I post here daily about what we accomplished in class each day, including handouts and links available to students on my CANVAS site.
Honors Classes: We worked on Step 2 of the Research Project in the Media Center during the first 45 minutes of class today. Step 2 requires the student choose one trickster from another culture to research and include in the final paper. Students did initial research today to help them choose a trickster character; we directed them to online resources in the Pathfinder for this project as well as print resources we have already pulled onto a cart for this project. Students have three days to find and take notes from two informational sources ABOUT the trickster and at least one trickster tale that FEATURES the trickster in the story. After returning to class, students worked in their Night groups on the motif project. Motif posters are due on Thursday; we will have class time to work on the poster Tuesday and Thursday before it's due. Students can also attend Smart Lunch on Monday and Thursday to work on the posters as needed. Homework: Continue to find and create Works Cited and notes from informational texts about selected trickster along with at least one trickster tale. This research must be complete by the end of class time on Wednesday. Add passages from chapters 6-9 to motif tracking chart to help your group complete the project on time.
Academic Class: We began our research project on Man's Inhumanity to Man in the Media Center today for the first 45 minutes of class. Students selected and received approval for a topic last week; today's research required them to find an encyclopedia article in print or online and to complete today's research sheet. When we returned to the classroom, we began with notes on Night vocabulary, added journal entries to our assignment from Chapter 2, and began reading Chapter 3. Homework: Finish today's research sheet if needed. Finish reading Chapter 3 and look for passages for Chapter 3 journal topics.
