I post here daily about what we accomplished in class each day, including handouts and links available to students on my CANVAS site.
Honors Classes: We started with a review of transition words/phrases. Students were each given a transition and had to post it on a display of the four times transitions are needed in the research paper. We then reviewed their postings and applied them to our peer editing session. Next, we went over the requirements of a successful introduction and conclusion; students filled in information, examples, or drafts of their own writing to the graphic organizer as we went through each step. Finally, we watched the next 25 (approx) minutes of Life is Beautiful, taking notes on motifs common to the movie and Night in the final section of our notes page. Homework: Write a complete introduction and conclusion and bring a copy to class tomorrow for peer review.
Academic Class: We started with the vocabulary quiz. Students who finished quickly had some time to read chapters 8-9 in Night and work on their journals. Once everyone was finished with the quiz, we moved directly to the outline process of the research paper, which we looked at briefly at the end of class yesterday. Students have a Google Doc copy of the outline to complete for a grade by the end of class on Friday. Homework: Read chapters 8-9 and complete 2 journal entries per chapter.
